Dampness - the experimental electronic project generated in the beginning of 2006 by Hristjuk Alena Sergeevna - russian artist, musician and designer - who was born on September, 2nd in the small ancient city of Pskov. Her music - scrupulously designed, multilayered, consisting from smallest details and particles the atmospheric action, saturated by unusual use of acoustic and electronic tools and set of the deformed, strange, field sounds transformed beyond recognition (field-recording). Almost all music is devoted to ancient practice of the Tibetan llamas «Anchient Secret of the Fountain of Youth» which is powerful system of improvement, a rejuvenation, and increase spiritual power, integrity, harmony of spirit. Her creations and a pseudonym are closely connected with special perception of the natural phenomena, such as a rain and a fog, a cold and dampness which is extremely necessary for her.
At the heart of all there was a surrealistic, abstract works drawn by oil on canvases, and music became natural continuation of a picturesque embodiment of conditions in the richest palette, already, musical canvases. Simply once, on March, 16th 2006, Alena has decided to splash out the inspiration in music, in the program "Garageband. Dampness project started to exist in that day. During the period with 2006 for 2010, within the limits of the project it has been written down more than 50 compositions.
On October, 5th, 2008, there was a debut album "Life Without The Canvas", consisting of two CDs. An album cover is one of her pictures, written prior to the beginning of muses. Activity. For the period of the record lasting of 2 years, she has completely refused a canvas and paints, from here there was an album name.
On February, 12th, 2010, has been published release consisting from old both new material and remixes "Rarities and Mixes '06-'08".
The same year, on September, 17th - has been published "Embodiment of Spring and Dampness" - consisting of three new compositions, very atmospheric and strange, with a lot of field-recording. Scratches of doors, rustles, singing of birds, sounds of drops written down indoors, and also Dampness vocal. A cover also is her picture "the Embodiment of Spring and the Dampness Embodiment". Presumably, this release in the future will be added by new tracks and becomes long-play.
All music distributed for free. Dampness hasn't been signed any contract with a label since 2006 on 2010, there are no live performances, but Alena doesn't exclude that all it will be sometime carried out. Probably, the limited, exclusive editions of albums will be once. All covers of albums and a promo-photo creates by Dampness. Writes music, doing mastering by using a minimum of means. She is the engineer, scrupulously designing the multilayered compositions. Dampness conducts the extremely solitary way of life.
"... I'm very glad, when my music is visualized for the listener, after all it's overflowed by the information, a video series... The whole picture, written by oil on a canvas carefully appears in the course of listening sounds"
"I overflow music with the information, not controllably, but i carefully filter quality, cleanliness and inoffensiveness of this information. If not harmless gloomy power arrives on my track, it become b-side and in the description him i warn about possible negative consequences against listening, for example, track Undergo Trials. If information a lack on a time interval, i simply don't write music, i wait, collect something especial inside, i think over idea, i accumulate interesting sounds. It's big sense - to make music saturated by a special condition, by the world inside of me in smallest details..."
