A l’aube de ses 16 ans, Eric ne rêvait pas de chevaucher une belle mobylette, les cheveux au vent mais plutôt de passer du temps à créer, bidouiller et triturer synthétiseurs, boites à rythmes et autres objets capables d’émettre un son. Sa chambre transformée en laboratoire d’expérimentation sonore devenait quelque peu étroite d’où au début des années 90, il forme avec deux compères de la région d’Oupeye : « Escape Industry ». Le trio influencé par le mouvement EBM enregistre une démo bien reçue par le milieu de l’electro énergique. Malheureusement suite aux divergences musicales de chacun, la collaboration s’essouffle et sera dissoute en 1999. Pas du tout découragé, Eric prend en main le projet solo « Evoid ». Entre 2000 et 2004, il livrera 3 mcd en auto - production. Une musique électronique qui mélange minimalisme, un zeste de mélodies et une pointe de « gros son », le tout pas toujours dans les règles et accompagné d’une note d’humour caustique! Après cette trilogie, les compositions prennent une autre direction laissant davantage de place aux lignes de chant et comme déjà fait auparavant, l’envie de collaborer avec une autre personne se fait ressentir. BINGO ! En 2006, Luc croise le chemin de « Evoid ». Ce chanteur aussi passionné de musique qui dans les années 80 sévissait sur les ondes des radios libres s’est très vite senti à l’aise sur les musiques d’Eric. Après un essai très concluant avec « haunting me », la fusion met en route « DI*ove »… ***(English*** On the eve of his 16th birthday Eric’s dreams weren’t about racing his super dooper moped, nah, his were all about playing with, creating, and tweaking synths, rhythm boxes and other sound emitting devices. His bedroom turned into a sound lab… and soon it had become too small. That’s why he formed Escape Industry with two mates of his native Oupeye region in the early 90s. Riding the EBM wave, the trio went on to record a demo that caused quite the riot among the fans of that type of music. Alas, the original fire slowly started to die because of internal differences of musical opinion and eventually the band split up in 1999. Not one to be affected easily, Eric went on to start his own solo project called Evoid. Three CDs would be released independently in the period spanning between 2000 and 2004. It featured electronic music combining minimalism, a hint of melody and a fluff of big noise, most of the time not entirely according to the book but never devoid of caustic humour. This trilogy seemed to break grounds for another music direction which would leave more space for singing lines and the need to attract outside talent. Wham bang thank you ma’am; 2006 hit the calendars and Luc came into the picture. Another music geek who ruled the waves of the pirate stations back in the 80s. Luc quickly adjusted to Eric’s music and DI*ove was born. Their first achievement was the very catchy Haunting Me.
