As a mix between the gentle and the explosive, alternative/electronic act Marybell Katastrophy has found their niche. Their music is to be found somewhere in the landscape between Johannes Brahms and David Bowie. Being quite difficult to describe, critics have compared the sound of Marybell Katastrophy to everything from The Bangles on acid, to Kate Bush turned upside down… The band, consisting of Marie Højlund (ex Tiger Tunes), Maria Timm (ex The Broken Beats) and Emil Thomsen (Schweppenhäuser), played their debut concert in July 2006, but has already played numerous shows in Denmark and also toured France and Germany. Marybell Katastrophy has played big festivals such as the Roskilde Festival and they opened the Spot Festival (Danish South By Southwest) in 2007, where the major Danish newspaper Politiken called the show a “concert revelation”.
