There are 7 bands with the name STATE OF MIND:
1) New Zealand Drum n Bass legends!
- BIO -
State Of Mind is a drum and bass duo consisting of Patrick Hawkins and Stu Maxwell.
One of the first UK artists to take an interest in State Of Mind was Oxford-based duo (and arguably the most prolific artists in the history of drum and bass), Total Science. While touring New Zealand in late 2004, Q Project and Spinback were introduced to the State Of Mind sound. Blown away by the strength of the music they heard, the Oxford legends instantly sought to work with the talented duo.
Label signings have amassed since this encounter. With releases on the shelves now from Total Sciences CIA Recordings, Teebee's Subtitles Records, Futurebounds Viper label, Doc Scotts 31 Records, Simon Bassline Smiths Technique Recordings, and two tunes on the current Bad Company Presents Bad Taste LP. There are of course more works soon to be released on CIA, Subtitles, Obsessions, Horizons, Uprising & Friction's Shogun Audio. Watch this space.
As well as continuing their strong links with C.I.A. and 31 Records in 2006, State Of Mind will be working on their debut New Zealand LP for Concord Dawns Uprising label distributed in New Zealand through major label Universal. Concord Dawn have revolutionized the way people listen to Drum and Bass music in New Zealand, and Pat and Stu are extremely honoured to be working with these innovative pioneers.
Tracks from the lads are currently on high rotate in the sets of Concord Dawn, Black Sun Empire, Doc Scott, Bulletproof, The Upbeats, Pendulum, Klute, Teebee, Matrix, Cyantific, High Contrast, Bad Company, DJ Friction, Total Science, DJ Craze, Futurebound and many more.
Sun King (CIA026) has received the heaviest play from all the vinyl outings and featured very highly on record store sales charts from around the world for 2005 (including number one seller for Austria on the Chemical Records website!).
State Of Mind host the 95BFM drum n bass show 'Next Level' (Saturday 9-11pm NZ time, online at
www.95bfm.com) bi-weekly (with DJ Presha handling the other weeks) and as DJ's have toured with Concord Dawn, Pendulum, Matrix, Dieselboy, and Digital to name afew. Their sets are always show stealers and the reputation of dancefloor filling domination these two talented DJs bring is spreading fast.

2) State of Mind is the Nom de Guerre of Kim
Bonfils, a Danish keyboard player and multi-instumentalist, with a long career as songwriter and musician on the Danish art rock scene.
His solo project State Of Mind merges the classic singer-songwriter tradition and minimalist electronica with a distinct retro flavour. Songs with an off-beat edge reminiscent of Serge Gainsbourg or Daniel Johnson are set in an unusual and synthetic soundscape - evoking Kraftwerk and Brian Eno.
Kim Bonfils handles all instruments and programming, creating a simplistic, often drum-less sound, carried mainly by synthesizers and vocals.
The songs of STATE OF MIND explore the complex workings of the human psyche. From the eye-opening epiphanies to the destructive thought patterns that turn us into helpless bystanders to our own lives., a Danish keyboard player and multi-instumentalist, with a long career as songwriter and songwriter on the Danish art rock scene.

3)One of the leading dutch hardcore punk acts
The beginning of 2005 marks the beginning of State of Mind, when singer Emile joins the band to complete the line up. The groovy NY styled hardcore these guys were working on appealed to Emile, and quickly he came up with some lyrics that fitted the songs well. A glance at a film poster gave them a name, a 4-track in a rehearsal space gave them a demo, a friend gave them a show and the ball started rolling. Their now sold out demo consisted of 4 songs inspired by the likes of Burn, Breakdown, Maximum Penalty and Leeway. Since then a lot of gigs followed, including weekend trips and small tours with their friends in A Step Apart, No Turning Back, Solid Ground, For the Glory and True Colors. One of the demo songs was re-recorded and appeared on the Light the Fuse compilation 7"; other bands are Justice, A Step Apart, Nothing Done and Icepick.
New songs were created and recorded in late June 2005. The 7" on Bust! Records contains 4 of those songs, the cd version all 6 of them. With the distribution being handled by Crucial Attack, first reactions have been really good. The songs on these recordings have a faster touch, but without losing the groove of the demo.
In March 2006 the band hit the studio again and recorded new songs that were featured on the 'Bitter Times, Better Times' 7". This record really proves what this band is capable of.
August 2007 marks the release of 'Music for the Statefully Insane', their first full length. With a couple of new members in the line up, State of Mind continues to play and have as much fun as possible!
