...Stephen Orsak has been an electronic musician and enthusiast since his family purchased their first computer while he was still a freshman in high school... His compositional process combines acoustic performance, synthesis, randomization, field recordings, sampling and a healthy dose of digital signal processing, creating extremely personal and emotive pieces that often challenge generalization. However disparate his sound sources may seem to be though, a strong melodic identity is always the goal, resulting in music that is at once both awkward and accessible. Recent solo recordings include an EP titled "Lessons from the Listmaker" that was released on the net-label Hippocamp.net in 2005, and two pieces on an electronic music compilation released by the micro-label Secret Machine Language in 2006. Much of his earlier work was released in small CDr batches and handed out to friends and strangers at shows... dIy style! In performance he utilizes an assortment of equipment including guitar, laptop, synthesizers, and stomp-boxes to create spontaneous re-interpretations of premeditated themes and always inviting the element of surprise... He is currently compiling and writing material for a full-length solo CD to be released in summer 2008 as well as Producing albums for a number of Austin based artists.
