The Berlin-based band Untoten was founded in 1994 by Greta Csatlós and David A. Line, which are the only bandmembers. Greta Csatlós is from Hungarian desendency and went to a nun boarding school, two facts about her that surely influenced "Die Blutgräfin" and "Die Nonnen von Loudun". Greta and David started off with the band
Ziza in the Ruhr area, then moved to Berlin where they started the band Untoten within an artistic squatting scene. One of Greta's paintings decorates the wall of Berlin.
Untoten connect
gothic rock with
electronic Music and are often settled in the
dark electro and
electrogoth scene. While their older albums show a strong influence from
punk music their newer albums "Die Blutgräfin" and "Die Nonnen von Loudun" are more settled in the area of a musical audio play.
Other projects of Greta Csatlós and David A. Line are
Paloma im Blute,
Soko Friedhof and
Engelwerk which they publish along with the drawings of Greta and the books of David under the label von Grafenwald, formerly Sonic Malade.
